This past week we spent our time working on the second build for our game. We took the suggestions given by our classmates and worked on implementing them the best we could.
Nikita put in sound effects for specific actions like getting injured, picking up the toilet paper, etc. She also chose and implemented the background music as well as fixing character and AI movement bugs such as unbalanced movement speeds and such.
I worked on implementing a pause menu function as well as an updated UI since there were many comments about how difficult it was to read in-game. I ran into some issues with the UI responding differently on different screen resolutions but I eventually found a fix thanks to posts about the issue on the Unity forums. I also implemented a win screen that allows the user to choose between going to the next level and returning to the main menu.
Monica worked on creating a level 2 where the lighting is darker and a new AI is introduced that chases the player once they have the toilet paper. This level is still being worked on but the basic version will be available for this build.
Alexis worked on expanding the environment to make the level more challenging in this build. We had comments before about how our game seemed very short and easy so we decided to elongate the walk to the toilet paper shelf and add in more hazards. She also added in better textures for pieces of the environment and implemented a start screen/main menu.
